Garry Carson has more than thirty five years of site planning and landscape design experience, with specific expertise in the areas of cultural landscapes, interpretive planning, master planning, urban design, sports facility design, landscape design, and project management.

Among Garry’s past accomplishments are Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the Headworks Interpretive Site (adjacent to St. George’s Island); Battalion Park, the Canmore Nordic Centre, a host venue for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games; the Urban Parks Master Plan for downtown Calgary; the Eau Claire Promenade along the Bow River in Calgary; Olympic Plaza, Rouleauville Square, and Beauleau Gardens in downtown Calgary.

Recently, Garry developed the conceptual master plan for Inglewood Wildlands Park, a bioenergy pilot facility on a brown field site in SE Calgary. Currently Garry is working on the Master Plan for Old Refinery Park, a brown field former Imperial Oil refinery site and the redesign of Battalion Park in SE Calgary, a historic site where he completed the original master plan and park design. Garry (while founding partner at Carson McCulloch) was the Principal Landscape Architect responsible for design and construction of Ralph Klein Legacy Park in south east Calgary and in 2001 prepared the Callaghan Valley Nordic Centre Master Plan for the 2012 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver/Whistler.

In 1997 Garry was honored with election to the CSLA College of Fellows in recognition of his contributions to the profession of Landscape Architecture.
