Through early engagement in the development process of Ribstone Ranch, we are currently working with the client to establish and define neighbourhood design guidelines and principles as part of the Area Structure Plan (ASP) process. Initial project stages involved developing and communicating these established elements via a public open house.
This new neighbourhood will be located southeast of Calgary in the Municipal District of Foothills. As a rural-style neighbourhood, Ribstone Ranch is planned to be compiled of 50% green space, boasting an expansive pedestrian mobility network and integrated Low Impact Development (LID) features. With walkability as a key overriding element, pedestrian friendly elements are planned for the neighbourhood including accessible trails, wayfinding and interpretive signage, lookouts and wetland boardwalks.
Ribstone Ranch is currently moving through the ASP approvals process. Once approvals are obtained, Ground3 will be tasked with the design development, detailed design and construction of the landscape elements. Future challenges include detailing and defining the rural-style pedestrian realm while navigating the Foothills Municipal Development process.
